You can generate a video from a sequence of images.
To import a sequence of still images into MotionDSP Spotlight, go to: File > Import Video > File, or click the File button in the Main Toolbar. In the Open dialog, select all of the images in the sequence and select Open.
Alternatively, you could select all of the images in the sequence and together drag-and-drop them from a Windows Explorer window into MotionDSP Spotlight.
MotionDSP Spotlight will ask if you want to concatenate the images files together as one (see Figure 5). Select Yes and the images are then sorted by name and added to MotionDSP Spotlight.
Figure 5: Importing sequence of images into Spotlight
For a sequence of still images to be imported into MotionDSP Spotlight:
- All image files must have the same resolution
- The still image formats have to be PNG, JPG, or BMP.
The files need to be named sequentially with a common beginning text. When you view them sorted by name in Windows, they should arrange themselves in the correct sequential order. The part of the filename that comes before the first digit is interpreted by MotionDSP Spotlight as the "root" string. For example, with a file called "video_sequence_0001.png", the root string is "video_sequence_".
NOTE: The numbers don't have to be consecutive. There can be missing numbers in the sequence, for example video_01, video_02, video_04, video_06 will work. However, variations in the root text, such as video_02, vid_03, vid04 will not work.
For example:
- video_sequence_0002.png
- video_sequence_0010.png
will be treated as a part of image sequence when "video_sequence_0001.png " is opened, but these will not:
- video_seq_0003.png or
- video_sequence_0004.jpg
The default fps of imported sequence of images is 5ps. Adjustment rate of fps is done through player context menu by right clicking in the player video and selecting desired fps of 10, 25, 30, and 60. Option to custom fps value is also available by entering desired fps value in custom field section.
